Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear said he was advised “Killers of the Flower Moon” is tentatively slated to film additional scenes of a traditional community dance in mid-May in Osage County.

 

“I heard that Mr. Scorsese and the producers are going to come back and try to get a better ending by showing everyone who was an extra in a social dance where everyone’s having a good time,” he said Friday during an appearance at the Tulsa Press Club. “They’re coming back in mid-May, which is pretty soon. I was told they were coming back to film that to get a better ending than what really happened.

 

“I can assure that after all this madness, we didn’t say ‘Let’s have a social dance!’”

His co-star Plemons, fresh off his “Power of the Dog” Oscar nom, will campaign for supporting actor.

Scorsese and his longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker have been working at a snail’s pace on ‘Flower Moon’s’ post-production. Additional shooting has also been called for next week in Oklahoma.

 

For the most part, Scorsese’s films have had a rather lengthy post-production process; Shutter Island (20 months), Silence (19 months), The Irishman (18 months), Hugo (15 months), The Age of Innocence (15 months), The Departed (13 months), The Aviator (13 months), Goodfellas (13 months), and Wolf of Wall Street (11 months).

As the first total lunar eclipse of 2022 gets ready to grace North America with a super flower blood moon, the crew of the movie “Killers of the Flower Moon” have returned to Pawhuska to shoot final footage.

 

The film crew started returning to Oklahoma around May 1, and is back in force now, adding palpable energy – and traffic – to the streets of Pawhuska.

 

The lunar eclipse will start around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, May 15, and continue until 1:15 a.m. Monday. Totality will be from 10:29 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., according to NASA. During totality, and depending on pollution and other factors, the moon likely will look supernaturally large and red due to how the light bends around Earth as it lines up between the sun and moon.

Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’: Very Rough Cut Screened

 

For whatever it’s worth, this could be a sign that a rough cut has been screened. During the weekend I received two messages, both about Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” being privately screened to a few lucky Paramount/Apple-connected people.

 

An excerpt from Person #1:

I've heard nothing but amazing things about "Killers of The Flower Moon". Paramount and Apple are very excited. Leonardo Dicaprio, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone’s performances are top-notch. Oscar noms for all 3 of them. Deniro's role is shorter than it is in the book.

 

Person #2:

FANTASTIC buzz flying around for “Killers of the Flower Moon”. Although I'm skeptical, I've heard the phrase "Scorsese's career best”. Leo is a conflicted villain. Deniro is a bad guy, but in a much smaller role. Jesse Plemons is the good guy. Still being edited, but some people have seen a cut.

 

I read the novel. It’s fantastic. I’d love for Scorsese to give it the same meditative treatment he gave “Silence,” and “The Irishman.” I feel as though the Scorsese of ‘Wolf,’ ‘Goodfellas,’ and ‘Casino’ is far behind us now.

 

Also, “Killers of the Flower Moon” being screened is a good indicator that this will be a 2022 film. We recently reported that Apple/Paramount are eyeing a December release for the film.

The Dish hears that Killers of the Flower Moon, the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of the David Grann book that figured to be a strong contender for all the top Oscar categories, it will skip this Oscar race.

 

The alternative plan discussed: the film that teams Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro will get a global showcase premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival next May. And in a development that could be a future template for streamers look to recoup some of the mega-budgets of the event films they’ve been making, Killers of the Flower Moon would roll out with a full-blown theatrical release through Paramount, a studio that was always part of the deal.

Ну ощущалось, учитывая пересъемки в июне-июле. Скорсезе давно не торопится с пост-продакшеном. Немного жаль, что к Каннам готовят. Они априори похуже Венеции в плане перспектив.
