ty is nothing compared to filmmaking artist Peter Tscherkassky's stunning reworking Outer Space, in which he takes original footage from Furie's film, bleeds it of all colour and mashes it into something even more jarring and disconcerting. "Outer Space is a shocker of cinematographic dysfunction; a hell-raiser of avant-garde cinema," wrote film critic and journalist Stefan Grissemann. "It conjures up an inferno which pursues the destruction (of cinematic narrative and illusion) with unimaginable beauty."

At the forefront of modern experimental cinema, Peter Tscherkassky is renowned for working strictly within film rather than using other new technological and digital forms. His interest lies not only in the materiality of celluloid, but also in the roles of both the filmmaker and the viewer; his works are what writer and filmmaker Rhys Graham calls "sensually overwhelming, seductive experiences to which it is very pleasurable (and often physically staggering) to surrender." Similarly, Eve Heller (Tscherkassky's wife and occasional collaborator) manipulates found footage to create immersive works that are both profound and beautiful.
