Лучше бы уже перестать подымать эту тему. Геллар исполнительный продюсер шоу, ей виднее. К тому же, CW - бывший WB. На котором выходила "Баффи", сделавшая Сару всемирно популярной.

Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as Bridget, a woman on the run who assumes her wealthy and estranged twin sister's Siobhan’s identity, only to discover that her sister's life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she's trying to escape.

 

In this edgy thriller about redemption and revenge, recovering addict Bridget is six months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness to a professional hit. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado, (former Lost star Nestor Carbonell), Bridget knows her life is on the line. She flees to New York, telling no one, not even her Narcotics Anonymous sponsor, Malcolm (Mike Colter)

 

In New York, Bridget reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan (also played by Gellar). Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin (Ioan Gruffudd, The Fantastic Four, Hornblower), Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life - a life where no one knows that Bridget exists. The sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship, until Siobhan disappears mysteriously, and Bridget makes the split second decision to take on her sister's identity. She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan's best friend, Gemma (Tara Summers), and Gemma's husband, Henry (Kristoffer Polaha). But when an attempt is made on her life, Bridget discovers that living as Siobhan is no less dangerous than the old life she is trying to escape.

 

The deal was brokered by BSkyB’s Acquisitions Manager Louisa Forsyth, and Stephen Tague, SVP Europe CBS Studios International.

Inside the CW's Launch Plan: Trying to Slay a Broader Audience.

If you were still paying attention by the end of the second week of the most recent Television Critics Association press tour (and you could be forgiven for burning out by then), you might have noticed new CW President Mark Pedowitz talking about broadening the appeal of the network-not only by his admission that he's open to developing comedies, but through two new fall shows.

 

"Our bread and butter is women 18-34 and to deny that is a mistake," Pedowitz told a group of reporters at TCA. "But what we do want to do, which Ringer and Hart of Dixie provide us the opportunity to do, is to invite more 18-34s in, plus allow other people and other age groups to come sample us."

 

The desire to attract new viewers to The CW will be reflected in the marketing for Hart of Dixie and Ringer, differing from its usual strategy of what the network calls "smartly provocative" campaigns that push the boundaries (think the "OMFG" ads for Gossip Girl).

 

"I hope we have been smartly provocative with all of our shows, but also meeting the tenor of what the show's DNA is all about," says Rick Haskins, CW executive VP of marketing and brand strategy.

 

Hart of Dixie, which stars Rachel Bilson as a New York doctor who inherits a practice in small-town Alabama, is The CW's first show set in the South (besides One Tree Hill, a legacy WB series). As such, Haskins has cooked up what he dubs a "Southern fried" media plan that targets audiences in the South and Midwest.

 

"We feel that is one of two really big opportunities for us to reach a different audience that we really couldn't reach with some of our other shows," Haskins says. "The South does very well for us, we have very strong affiliates and we think that this is really a good opportunity for us to take advantage of that with a show that they are dying to see."

 

The campaign includes new buys for the network including at top-50 country radio stations, cable networks CMT and GAC and Country Weekly magazine. They'll also fly aerial banners over NCAA football games for two weekends prior to the premiere for teams like Alabama, Mississippi State and LSU. And the campaign will further target the region with ads in 40 malls, billboards along major interstates and screenings in the top eight markets with strong country radio stations.

 

"The show lends itself to different media and what different media means is broadening our audience because we've never really had anything to talk to that audience about, which we do now," Haskins says.

 

But The CW doesn't want to ignore its core audience, either. Hart of Dixie leads out of Gossip Girl on Monday nights, and the network is hoping Rachel Bilson's fashion-icon status will draw the latter show's heavy fan base in New York and Los Angeles to the new series.

 

As for Ringer, Haskins sums up the marketing strategy for that series in three words: Sarah Michelle Gellar. "SMG is our OMG for this campaign," he says, referencing Gossip Girl's popular "OMG" tagline. Ringer is Gellar's first TV series since her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, and is a big name for the still relatively small network.

 

As such, Ringer will get a big push from The CW, with Haskins calling it "a broader buy than we historically do." The campaign includes an eight-deep print buy of large circulation magazines such as People and Us Weekly as well as Soap Opera Digest (Gellar got her start on All My Children). There's also a big cable buy, which for the first time includes BBC America, part of The CW's attempt to attract new viewers on the name recognition of Gellar.

 

"That built-in equity that she brings is very important to us because I think a lot of people that have never ever watched The CW are going to start watching The CW to see Sarah Michelle Gellar," Haskins says.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Will Return to All My Children, Promises Answers from Ringer

 

The series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Bridget, a recovering addict on the run from some unsavory people. She takes on her twin sister's identity after her sister apparently commits suicide. Miller will play Charlie, a blue-collar guy who Bridget meets at an Narcotics Anonymous meeting. She'll turn to him for help in coping with the stress of relapsing when Malcolm (Mike Colter), her previous sponsor, is unavailable.

 

The 31-year-old actor, who recently appeared on FX's Justified, will first appear in the fifth episode.

Logan from Veronica Mars is joining Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new drama on the CW.

EW has learned exclusively that Jason Dohring will recur as Mr. Carpenter, a high school teacher at the new school attended by Juliet (Zoey Deutch), the stepdaughter of Manhattan socialite Siobhan Martin (Gellar). The sexy thriller — which features Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Gellar playing twins — will bow Sept. 13. It also stars Lost’s Nestor Carbonell as an FBI agent.

 

Dohring recently appeared in episodes of Lie to Me and CSI but fans probably count his run as Josef on Moonlight as his second-most memorable gig behind Mars.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is finally making her return to TV to bless us mere mortals with her awesomeness. Her vessel? The CW’s Ringer, where the Buffy star tackles not one but two juicy roles as twin sisters whose lives interweave just as they’re both unraveling. Twin hijinks and mystery ensues, natch.

 

So is Ringer worth your precious time? Here’s our take…

Status: We’ve seen the original pilot episode with Caitlin Custer in the role of Juliet. The final version of the pilot was not available for review.

 

Oh, what a tangled web Ringer weaves. In fact, it’s so tangled that it’s actually kind of hard to explain the intricate premise of the show in a clear and concise way. We’re going to try and give it our best shot:

 

We meet Bridget Kelly (Gellar), a former addict and “dancer” in an AA meeting, where she talks about going to visit her twin sister, Siobhan Martin (Gellar again!), whom she hasn’t spoken to in almost six years after a tragic accident. After a quick flirt session with Malcolm (Colter), her sponsor, Bridget meets up with another man in her life: FBI Agent Victor Machado (Lost’s never-aging Carbonell), who is protecting twin No. 1 before she is set to testify against the Mob. Obviously, this doesn’t go as planned and Bridget makes a run for it, fearing she will be killed for testifying.

 

It’s Twin No. 2′s turn! Bridget heads to the Hamptons to meet up with Siobhan, her seemingly put-together and perfect sister, and the two reconnect as much as two people can before one goes missing during a boating adventure. Seeing a way out, Bridget pretends to be Siobhan, tight bun and all. She soon learns Siobhan’s life is just as complicated as her own: She and her husband Andrew (Gruffudd) are in what seems to be a loveless marriage of Siobhan’s doing, she’s having an affair, and her stepdaughter Juliet (Deutch) is dabbling with drugs. Got all that?

 

Now that we’ve covered all the basics (and almost broke a sweat while doing so), it’s time to say how we actually felt about the pilot.

 

Well, like the show, it’s complicated.

 

We love the film noir-ness of the show and what it could potentially become, but we have to admit that there was just too much stuffed into the pilot. While we won’t give away any of the plot twists (one is particularly jaw-dropping), we’ll say that there are a lot and some possibly could have been revealed a few episodes in. And while it’s obviously a serious drama full of danger and intrigue, we were kind of hoping for at least one happy moment in the pilot. Alas, there were none. These are very intense people dealing with intense feelings in intense situations. In case you didn’t get it: It’s intense.

 

Thankfully, it seems the show is headed for a slowdown. “The writers slow everything down dramatically in the second episode,” Carbonell tells us. “They slowed everything down and dealt with one particular mystery that was raised in that pilot. Moving forward, episode three does that as well. They’re setting up and paying off pretty consistently early on. You’re getting answers to some of those questions right away.”

 

As for Sarah Michelle Gellar? She. Is. Awesome. You know that saying too much of a good thing can be a bad thing? This does not apply to SMG. She’s fantastic as Bridget, with regret and the hope for redemption written all over her face, and she’s equally fantastic as Siobhan, with just a touch of bitterness and a polished exterior masking her need for revenge.

 

Gruffudd, Carbonell, Polaha and Colter are all compelling as the men in Bridget’s life. We can’t wait for the show’s romantic intrigue to pick up as Gellar has palpable chemistry will all of her leading men. With Justin Bruening, Billy Miller and Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars’ Logan Echolls!) all joining the cast in recurring roles, the competition for either twin’s heart is looking pretty tough. Carbonell isn’t too worried. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint. In the end, I think my Chavado is going to get one of the twins, if not both.” How progressive of you, Richard Alpert!

 

Verdict: Watch, watch, watch! While the pilot had a few flaws, we’re dying to find out more about the twins’ past and present, and Ringer does show some serious potential for greatness. And hello, it’s SMG. Show some respect.

Sixty seconds into the CW's new psychological thriller Ringer (Tuesdays @ 9 pm on the CW, beginning September 13), star Sarah Michelle Gellar is seen running from a masked attacker in the darkness. This is a familiar scene, one that will immediately hook Gellar's obsessive Buffy: The Vampire Slayer devotees who have followed her here. The actress is never better than when she is up against something evil, whether it's the supernatural or the morally depraved. Seven years after Buffy — now a beloved memory relived via the occasional rerun or sing-along prom — Gellar has found herself shilling for a very different kind of big baddie: the one that lives in her character's own head, capable of being even more perverse than the nasty, witty vamps who made Buffy's sexy graveyard adventures so much fun. In Ringer, she's her own worst enemy.

 

Or is she? Gellar plays a set of identical twin sisters, Siobhan and Bridget Martin. The former is the sort of lady the New York Times' Bill Cunningham would sprint after on Fifth Avenue, just to capture the flutter of her scarf, her off-the-runway coat, her bug-eyed sunglasses. Siobhan also has a strapping British husband, a penthouse Park Avenue apartment, and a weekend home in the Hamptons. Creepily enough, nobody — not even her fella — knows she has a twin sister. That would be Bridget, a former drug-addled stripper turned waitress who has only been sober for six months and is in quite a state. She's reconnected with her sister to satisfy step nine of her recovery program — and also because she's set to testify against a mob boss in a highly publicized trial. The crime king murdered another dancer, and Bridget was the only witness. Naturally, she's next on the hit list.

 

In a rapid trajectory of events that unfolds within 20 minutes of the premiere, Siobhan disappears, and Bridget, who runs away after stealing her security guard's gun the night before she's due to testify, smoothly steals her sister's life. Seeing Gellar as the grungy, sarcastic Bridget-pretending-to-be-Siobhan feels most natural — but there's also something delicious and weird about her overly enunciated role as the better dressed, scarily coiffed sophisticated twin. Perhaps this is because both sisters are pathological liars and sociopaths, a definite plus for a noir mystery set in a contemporary world. And it's a pleasure to watch Gellar back on the small screen, even if she's in heels instead of shitkicker boots, or cowering in fear instead of spitting out caustic witticisms before staking giant men in the chest. As long as she's in danger, she's entirely loveable.

 

"I can't believe what I've done. I didn't think I had a choice. Siobhan killed herself. I don't know why she did it," Bridget confides to her sponsor during a panicked phone call. "I'm the only one that knows that she's dead. I saw a way out and I took it. They all think I'm her. They all think I'm Siobhan." But do they? And is she really dead? Gellar has said in interviews that Ringer creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder already had a projected three seasons mapped out with precise plot twists before she signed on to the show, which is part of why she says she was so eager to be part of the series — she's playing the two leads, plus executive producing. She hates red herrings and doesn't want to enrage viewers by committing them to something addictive yet directionless, piggybacking on potential Lost trauma. Gellar has our backs. And Ringer actually knows where it's going.
