What the Doctor says ...What the Doctor really means

"This should be taken care of right away."

"I'd planned a trip to Hawaii next month but this is so easy and profitable that I want to fix it before it cures itself."

"Welllllll, what have we here..."

Since he hasn't the foggiest notion of what it is, the Doctor is hoping you will give him a clue.

"We'll see."

"First I have to check my malpractice insurance."

"Let me check your medical history."

"I want to see if you've paid your last bill before spending any more time with you."

"Why don't we make another appointment later in the week."

"I'm playing golf this afternoon

-or-

"I need the money, so I'm charging you for another office visit."

"I really can't recommend seeing a chiropractor."

"I hate those guys mooching in on our fees."

Yay, I guess I found most interesting theme here. My english is horrible, but at least here I can learn something =) I don't remember any rules, so it's so cool that people can just talk here and explain things to each other.

Reading that message I wouldn't say it's horrible. I see just one insignificant mistake and I'm pretty sure you didn't make it on purpose. So, I think it's fine)

Good to know, but what mistake?

It was just first message, I'm sure there gonna be more mistakes later.

I don't think that dropping out the article is insignificant. You will immediately be spotted as a Russian-speaking person :D By the way, you could use the indefinite article as well.

The same omission is in the second message -- it was just THE first message -- although you can argue that using MY would be more appropriate, and justly so - when you're uncertain about the article, use a pronoun)) But never leave a blank space.

Is it really possible for "most"?

The meaning will be different from that of the usage of 'the', so, it depends on what you mean to say.

Then what's the meaning of "I found a most interesting theme here"? I thought, it was absurd. Or did you mean just the usage of indefinite article in everyday practice, not particulary in this case?

By the way, have you read "The Pickwick Papers" in English? There was a character who didn't use articles at all - Alfred Jingle, a phoney.

Well, I don't think so... In fact I don't remember) But you may be right about the user who uses no articles - there are, indeed, none in both of her messages! ))

As for the meaning of 'a most', it's close to 'very' or 'rather'. The Russian word 'весьма' будет весьма кстати:D. Haven't you heard of it?

I've never come across "a most"... but then again, I'm not particularly using grammatically perfect English)

I've never come across "a most"...

Neither have I. It's definitely a new one on me. More interesting - comparative, the most interesting - superlative. Seems pretty straightforward at first sight)

No problem, you can google it)

And I did. And you're right. And thank you. You must be very good at this. Do you take classes?)

No! We're all here to discuss articles. Period!)

Suggestion- write about the movie you recently watched?

If my memory serves me well, it was Homefront. So, what can I say? Long story short - it's good. Definitely exceeded my expectations. And that's the level of my eloquence today)

It's them round yellow things :D they are a bit temperamental on my device.

I haven't watched Revenant but read a lot about this film, mostly positive. The jury is still out on whether I want to watch it or not.

Homefront with Statham? Again, heard about this movie but never watched it.

If you wanna see Jason Statham open up a can of whoop-ass on some villains one more time, I'd recommend you to check the movie out) It's fun, as far as I'm concerned)
